  • The village of Ashwaubenon will hold a groundbreaking Tuesday at Klipstine Park on Anderson Drive to begin building a new bandshell for community events and live performances—local families such as the Bukowskis, Happels, and Appletons have donated to support the project.  FOX 11

  • Wisconsin’s Festival Foods has been acquired by The 1939 Group, a Missouri-based grocery company that also owns Schnucks Markets in Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. The deal includes shares held by CEO Mark Skogen and the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan while financial details were not disclosed.  WNCY
  • Festival Foods, a Wisconsin grocery chain with a long family legacy, was sold to Schnucks, a Midwest supermarket chain, in a deal that added more than 8,000 workers—CEO Todd Schnuck said the transaction unites shared community values.  NBC 26

  • NEW Pride Alive announced Tuesday it is postponing its annual festival at the Brown County Fairgrounds in De Pere because of a charged political climate — organizers will share a new date soon.  NBC 26

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport reported a strong summer with June up 11%, July increasing by 13.2%, and August nearly 5% higher than last year—Airport Director Marty Piette and Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach said this rise shows local support and boosts our economy.  WBAY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • After a loaded handgun was found last week at Preble High, the Green Bay Area Public School District held a community roundtable on Monday where parents and students shared ideas—such as metal detectors and more police presence—to improve safety. The district will start a clear backpack mandate next Monday and will present the feedback to the Board on Oct. 13.  WNCY

  • Governor Tony Evers visited Keshena on Sept 16 to highlight clean energy projects led by Sun Bear Industries—projects that include a community kitchen solar system and an elder home solar and battery backup upgrade. His visit supported efforts to boost energy independence in the Menominee Nation as part of National Clean Energy Week.  FOX 11
  • Amtrak's I-41 Thruway bus service from Green Bay to Milwaukee will end on Oct. 1 because the state did not renew its contract due to a funding gap. The service offered two daily round trips since 2019 — a key transit option for regional travelers.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

  • Brown County leaders have united to promote suicide prevention and vital community resources in recognition of Suicide Awareness Month.
