GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Green Bay’s public works department says maintenance work on the Ray Nitschke Bridge will begin Tuesday and finish Friday next week — causing single lane closures between N. Broadway and N. Washington Street — while boaters must give a two-hour notice if they need the bridge opened. FOX 11
- ➤ State lawmakers proposed a three-day sales tax holiday for back-to-school shopping that will begin on the first Friday in August and end on the following Sunday—if passed it will ease the cost burden on working families and teachers. The proposal follows studies showing families spend over $850 on school needs, with supporters emphasizing relief while critics warn the measure may be inefficient. 94.3 Jack FM
- ➤ Green Bay City Council secured AmeriCorps funding to sustain conservation efforts through 2026. The city will receive $395,162 in federal grants + $140,967 in local funds to support 39 members working on habitat restoration, invasive species removal and trail maintenance across 3,000 acres of open space. - ➤ WisDOT will host an online public input meeting at 5 p.m. on Aug. 25 to gather feedback on $1 million projects that will improve intersections along Mason Street (six intersections over a two-mile span) and at Ashland Avenue and Ninth Street. - ➤ A $29 million project began replacing nearly 100-year-old sewer lines in downtown Green Bay and a part of Allouez on August 20, causing road closures including Main Street until noon today. Crews used cured in place pipe technology—placing a new tube inside the old sewer—to strengthen the system and prevent leaks as work continues until late 2026. WTAQ

- ➤ Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Specialists OSMS announced the addition of two new physicians who will start seeing patients in Green Bay on Thursday, September 4th. Dr. Abbey DeBruin, a Kaukauna native and the only female fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon in Northeast Wisconsin, and Dr. Brandon Stradel, a Denmark native who focuses on shoulder and knee injuries, will offer care to patients of all ages—both aim to improve treatment for sports injuries.
