- ➤ Weldon Tucker saved a 6-year-old girl with autism from traffic near the Ray Nitschke Bridge this summer and was honored Tuesday night by Mayor Eric Genrich and the city council with a certificate of recognition. WBAY
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A suspect, Ji-Gwe-Mko Layton, was taken into custody after a crash on Highway 172 near the Interstate 41 interchange in Ashwaubenon where a 60-year-old Wood County man was found dead following an alleged shooting — law enforcement set a cash bond of $750,000 while no charges have been filed. - ➤ Three more people were charged in a fraud scheme that defrauded Fox Communities Credit Union out of nearly $200,000, bringing the total to 17 suspects, and investigators said the suspects moved funds between Oct. 17 and Nov. 19, 2024—initial court appearances were set for Oct. 16 and Oct. 17. - ➤ Education reporter Nadia Scharf invites Green Bay readers to send in questions about local schools by text or email as she prepares her school-year coverage—focusing on topics like construction, policy changes, and everyday issues. - ➤ Mark Murphy, former Packers CEO, is UW-Green Bay's first Executive-in-Residence and will volunteer to boost fundraising for the NCAA Division I athletics programs. - ➤ Brown County's population increased by 3.5 percent since the 2020 census with nearly 9,500 new residents, and officials credit infrastructure projects like the South Bridge Connector and Highway 29 expansion—spurring growth in towns including Lawrence, Ledgeview, Hobart and Howard. WBAY
