- ➤ A Brown County court commissioner ordered David Vanderleest—charged with harboring a felon and obstructing an officer—to face trial for aiding his son after 2-year-old Leo Escalante died under suspicious circumstances, with his 21-year-old son now facing first-degree reckless homicide charges; investigators found a new cellphone purchase and phone searches tied to the case, and a plea hearing is set for Sept. 22 while his $50,000 bond remains. - ➤ Green Bay Police and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested two men—a 40-year-old and a 41-year-old—in November for the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Carlos Otero-Aviles, who was killed in the parking lot of an apartment complex during a party. WHBY
