- ➤ The second annual Sweet Stroll on Broadway will take place Saturday, July 18 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Broadway District as local small businesses offer desserts and treats (tickets cost $15). WBAY
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Urban Cultural Arts held its first Monday class this month on June 1 at the Mulva Cultural Center in De Pere + it will host classes each Monday in June after an $80,000 fire damaged its downtown space earlier this year. WBAY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The De Pere school board met Monday night to discuss a superintendent contract and confirmed Andy Bradford as interim superintendent after Christopher Thompson left to fight rare blood cancer. Bradford, who served as principal of Foxview Intermediate School, was chosen last month. WBAY
- ➤ The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is launching a coaching program for early-career teachers starting Fall 2026. Bowler School District superintendent Glenda Butterfield-Boldig secured spots for her teachers to join monthly virtual sessions (from September through May) that include independent coaching sessions. - ➤ Officials explained that the false active threat alarm on Monday at UW-Green Bay happened during a contractor-led upgrade to the fire system and confirmed that all students and staff are safe — they advise enrolling in GB Alert for further updates. FOX 11
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ WPS banded four peregrine falcon chicks outside Wausau Monday and named them after local media figures such as Featherson Lehmann, Matt Tweet, Kyle Prey-zorski, and Jade Eggshell. The naming contest received 22,000 votes + three times the prior record. WBAY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ All UTV riders must wear seat belts, use eye protection if their vehicle lacks a windshield, and adhere to new window tint limits set by state law that took effect Monday. Violators risk a fine ($295) and the changes aim to reduce roadway injuries. WNCY
- ➤ The closure of the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge in downtown Green Bay is postponed until Thursday due to unforeseen circumstances and will extend until June 25, with detours on Broadway, Walnut Street, and Monroe Avenue recommended for motor vehicles. NBC 26
- ➤ The Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge in downtown was closed Monday for maintenance work and detours were set along Broadway, Walnut Street, and Monroe Avenue until Friday, June 19. River traffic remains unaffected, but vehicle delays have increased along the route. NBC 26
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Green Bay East junior Lakera Gonnigan overcame an ACL tear before breaking her school's hurdles record at regionals — a milestone marking her comeback and leadership on the track team. She now plans to pursue track after high school. WBAY
- ➤ Joannes Stadium in Joannes Park got new $35,000 batting cages built with Blue Ribbons, Preble Booster Club, local businesses and city funds, letting baseball teams use the field for extra practice (team president Ken Leo said this upgrade frees up space) as the Blue Ribbons opened their season on Saturday. 94.3 Jack FM
