- ➤ On May 7, local Catholics gathered at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion to pray as cardinals in Rome began voting for a new pope following Pope Francis’ death—many hope the new leader will unite people and guide the church's spiritual growth. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Green Bay City Council is accepting applications for an alderperson in District 8 to serve the remainder of Chris Wery's term, which runs until April next year + he resigned for family health reasons with his last day on May 16. - ➤ Gov. Tony Evers and AG Josh Kaul sued Secretary Sean Duffy on May 8—saying that a funding freeze blocked over $62 million needed for new EV charging stations. The lawsuit claims that the lost funds may delay or cancel projects that would support business and job growth. Green Bay Press-Gazette
- ➤ Green Bay School Board member Kou Lee resigned after an investigation questioned his residency and eligibility for office—he had campaigned using an address where he did not live. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Organizers will host the EPIC Marathon & Running Festival on May 18 to replace the long-running Cellcom Green Bay Marathon, offering 5K, half, and full races with live music along each course—this race will serve as a Boston Marathon qualifier with a live performance later.
