- ➤ Wisconsin Public Service has launched its annual contest to name peregrine falcon chicks using names inspired by local TV and radio figures — voters may cast one vote per day through May 5 while eggs laid at the Weston Power Plant are expected to hatch this month. WBAY
- ➤ Residents can vote now to name We Energies' falcon chicks after NBC 26 News personalities and select winning names that will be given to the chicks hatching at power plants, with voting closing Tuesday, May 5. NBC 26
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents voted on April 20 to extend its temporary test-optional policy for high school juniors graduating in spring 2027 — applicants can skip standardized test scores when applying, and applications open Aug. 1 while researchers study the policy's effects. - ➤ De Pere superintendent Christopher Thompson announced Monday that he is stepping down due to health concerns and will serve until the end of the 2025-26 school year (the board will soon discuss a replacement). FOX 11

- ➤ Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson said the flood in Shiocton peaked at 15.1 feet on April 17 and has begun to recede, although cleanup will not start until water drops further.
