- ➤ Local officials say Bay Shore Park will undergo improvements after a soggy spring, with new boat launch lanes and a redesigned entrance with a ranger station, upgraded parking, and restrooms — and the 115-site campground will open May 1. FOX 11
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Green Bay students hosted an adaptive prom Friday at Southwest High School to give students with intellectual disabilities and peers from local high schools an inclusive dance experience (about 100 attendees). Volunteers decorated the gym and the event fostered kindness and community. FOX 11

- ➤ The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay rocket club watched the Artemis II splash down on Friday night and found renewed inspiration for aerospace studies as they prepare for a rocket competition in Kenosha later this month (members noted the event boosted their technical skills). UW-Green Bay
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Flooding is causing erosion along the Baird Creek greenway on the east side near McAuliffe Park and the main bridge. Officials will assess the damage and finish repairs before summer, and a clean-up day is set for next Saturday (April 25) from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. WBAY
- ➤ Flooding in Northeast Wisconsin limits sturgeon spawning viewing because high water levels reduce clarity and raise safety concerns, according to the DNR. Conditions hinder sightings at Princeton Dam, De Pere Dam, and Peshtigo Dam, and Bamboo Bend is closed for the season (updates come when water recedes). FOX 11
- ➤ Northeast Wisconsin communities recovering from flooding braced for more rain as thunderstorms were forecast for Friday night. Local leaders warned residents to avoid high water hazards and asked volunteers to help stack sandbags at Hatten Stadium. FOX 11
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fire departments in Northeast Wisconsin will inspect food trucks for cooking equipment, fire suppression systems, and electrical safety so trucks earn an annual compliance sticker when they pass. In Green Bay, inspections are scheduled on May 19 (2-6 p.m.) at the Metro Fire Department. FOX 11
- ➤ The U.S. Army Corps opened all gates at the Neenah and Menasha dams on Thursday to manage water flow — gauges in Appleton showed an increase from 13,800 cfs to 17,300 cfs — with Lake Winnebago levels expected to peak mid next week. FOX 11
