COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Nine local breweries collaborated to create 8th Round Downtown—a hazy pale ale that will be available at the Draft City Music Fest during the NFL draft in Green Bay. The new brew is part of local efforts to mark the draft festivities with a unique taste experience.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

BUSINESS NEWS

  • On March 24, the winter fleet at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay was seen with at least seven ships undergoing repairs as ice cleared from the harbor after a mild winter. Officials expect the vessels to leave soon for the active Great Lakes shipping season—supporting the region’s maritime economy.  WNCY

CRIME NEWS

  • Junius Jackson, a 38-year-old Green Bay man accused of attempted homicide in the New Year's Eve stabbing of a 57-year-old woman, faces two new domestic abuse victim intimidation charges—his mother Valerie Jackson, 61, and sister Arnette Ruskin, 43, were also charged for allegedly helping him contact the victim.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UW-Green Bay will host its Annual Giving Day on Thursday, April 3—donors can support more than 11,000 students as every contribution is matched dollar-for-dollar up to $65,000 during the 24-hour event. Alumni, faculty, staff and community leaders have the chance to help shape the future of local education through their gifts.  UW-Green Bay
  • UW Green Bay will open its online Applied Artificial Intelligence Certificate program on April 1 and run it until May 13. The noncredit program is divided into three self-paced courses with direct instructor contact—covering AI basics, business integration, and ethical issues while awarding a digital badge for $449.  UW-Green Bay
  • UW-Green Bay has started a new livestream of Peregrine Falcons nesting in a converted vent at the Cofrin Library—students and local experts helped install the webcam to watch the falcons raise their young. This project, supported by community funding and university staff, gives locals a real-time look at the birds as they return each year.  UW-Green Bay
  • In Wrightstown, four candidates are contesting two at-large school board seats this April 1 after a recent division following resignations and recall efforts. Incumbents Melinda Lemke + Jeff Nelson are running with newcomers Jonathan Curtis + Amber Cox and each is focusing on restoring trust and improving academic performance.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State officials are reviewing details on a $15 million grant for moving Green Bay’s coal piles to the former Pulliam site as Brown County and C. Reiss Company have not reached a lease agreement on the 37-acre property. Officials expect further talks and are exploring alternate project plans—funds must be used by the end of 2026.  WNCY
  • A constitutional amendment on the April 1 ballot would add the voter ID law into the state constitution by requiring a photo ID to vote—this change will make it harder to modify the law in the future. Early voting is underway with high turnout as voters also cast ballots in other races.  WBAY
