- ➤ The Help for the Homeless Hygiene Drive is underway at local Festival Foods and Walgreens until March 15 (collecting essential items like soap, shampoo, and razors) to support shelters serving people in need. WBAY
- ➤ 33 travelers linked to Lenny’s Tap remain stranded at a Puerto Vallarta resort as unrest disrupted flights — the U.S. State Department advised sheltering in place and they will not return home Sunday as planned. WBAY
- ➤ The 9th annual Give Big Green Bay fundraiser will begin Wednesday at noon and run for 24 hours, benefiting 50 nonprofits selected from 200 applicants. The event is led by the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation and supported by the Packers + local partners. WBAY
- ➤ The nonprofit Orphans of God and Support Malawi will host a community fundraiser to raise money for orphaned children in Malawi at Ames Production Studios in Green Bay on Thursday, Feb. 26 (6:30 p.m.). Donors can direct contributions toward specific needs and receive documentation of spending. WBAY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Green Bay school board is holding closed sessions today, Wednesday, and Thursday to interview candidates for the new superintendent as retiring Vicki Bayer steps down. A second interview round is planned next week, and the board will announce its selection on Mar. 11. WBAY
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin DNR warns ice fishing enthusiasts that permanent shanties on the bay of Green Bay must be removed by March 15 to prevent hazards as spring warms. Anglers may keep portable shanties if they are taken down each day (local clubs are a good help resource). Green Bay Press-Gazette

- ➤ The Main Street bridge in Green Bay will close from 6 a.m. March 2 to 5 p.m. March 4 for maintenance work, the Department of Public Works said; motorists should follow a detour (Broadway, Walnut Street, and Monroe Avenue) during the closure. Green Bay Press-Gazette
- ➤ Green Bay officials are considering a designated outdoor refreshment area on CityDeck to allow drinks in approved zones from May through October. The area would operate Thursday and Friday from 3 to 10 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. (if approved, officials plan to extend the zone). WBAY

- ➤ Local producers are beginning the maple syrup season earlier this winter, with conditions hinting syrup may be ready in two weeks at Maple Sweet Dairy Farm in De Pere.
